We could stand there endlessly (and did sometimes…over and over again) watching the planes land in St. Barts. I wonder if there exists anywhere a runway like it. It lies at the base of a hill which makes for a very steep and quick descent. At the end of the strip is the sand and water of one of St. Barts’ greatest beaches, St. Jean. I am told that it is not completely uncommon for a plane to find its way onto the sand. The most exhilarating thing is to stand at the top of the hill and watch as the planes glide, what feels like mere feet, above your head.
