The Stars Are Out Tonight

I came up on watch at 12AM and a universe of stars awaited me. I don’t think I have seen so many in quite some time. Some are so low on the horizon, I could mistake them for ships. Off in the distance I can make out two ships – two more than we have seen in quite a while. The phosphorescence sparkle like stars beneath the water’s surface and make a glowing green river in the boat’s wake.
We crossed 38 degrees latitude and it put a smile on my face thinking of home. I miss you guys.
Less than 800 miles to go. Not there yet…but getting close.
