John grew up around boats in the Seattle area. He has sailed extensively on wooden sailboats on Lake Union. John has completed US Sailing course training at the Seattle Sailing Club.
John has recently acquired his private pilot’s license, finding many similarities to sailing in the areas of communications, passage/flight planning and safety checks and procedures.
He has chartered sailboats in Seattle and in San Francisco. John has crewed and skippered on coastal passages. He has sailed many times with his brother David and looks forward to joining him again on his passage from Bermuda to the Azores, and then Lagos, Portugal during the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers in May.
John’s hobbies include sailing, flying, woodworking, fly fishing, skiing and travel.
John owns and operates Portage Bay Solutions and Beanie Air, both based in Woodinville, outside of Seattle, WA.
