The Countdown is On

We are now a mere two days from the first leg of the crossing! We’ve spent the past week getting the boat and ourselves sorted out and ready. With each passing day, our task list seemed to grow but now we have finally made a dent and we are in the home stretch. I have alternating bouts of excitement and anxiety. This first leg is only a couple of days longer than the longest that we have done on this trip but it feels so much greater, I suppose knowing that once we complete it, we still have two solid weeks on the water to get us to the Azores. Last night was our first social event for the ARC and we are starting to meet the other boats, which is really nice and such a big part of why we wanted to participate with this group. Not that it should come as a surprise, but looking around the room of about 40 people, there were at best 5 women…including me. Rather than being disappointed, I’m going to choose to feel special ;)
